Information about the Licence of Betfair
Just so you know, one of the largest betting exchanges – Betfair – is located in Gibraltar. Technically, this means that it is licensed and regulated by the country under the Gambling Act 2005. In addition to that, the company has been able to obtain a licence from the UK. Having such a licence enables them to operate within Great Britain. Hence, the sportsbook is regulated by a couple of regulatory bodies, two of the biggest actually. This automatically means that Betfair can be trusted and is reputable. It also means that Betfair must comply with the following requirements if they want to keep their licence and permission to operate within the UK:- Ensure that anyone who develops gambling addiction after using the site of Betfair is provided assistance.
- Their actions must be transparent and fair to everyone, especially to individuals who wish to wager on the site.
- Prevent minors from using Betfair to place bets and gamble until they reach the legal gambling age to do that.
Betting Markets
If you are from the United Kingdom, you probably know that Betfair has been advertised very heavily, especially for covering many gambling terms. It is one of the most known brands in the area thanks to TV commercials. They are the most popular betting exchange that offers a wide variety of markets. Here is a list of them: Volleyball, snooker, darts, cycling, cricket, baseball, American football, boxing, bowls, basketball, Australian rules, winter sports, pelota, Olympic sports, ice hockey, tennis, rugby union, MMA, horse racing, handball, football, bandy, rugby league, motor sport, greyhound racing, golf, and floorball. In addition, they have markets for television series, politics and other like things. But that’s not all. Not only does Betfair provide a multitude of markets to go for, but their depth is simply astonishing. You can find odds for both the most obscure and uncommon matches and the most popular and anticipated ones. They have it all. The coverage is impressive. It’s easy to see that they have lots of options for you – just have a glance at the listings for football. You are likely to find a plethora of matches involving events like the Chilean League, as well as the most common international sports events. What is more, aside from the basic odds, there also are many other specials, as well as different bets to suit everyone’s taste. Lay and back options are included as well. Of course, you need to understand that the liquidity is lower if the event is obscure. However, this does not seem to involve a lot of markets, so it is not such a big deal. Without a doubt, Betfair are one of the leaders when it comes to market availability.Layout of Betfair

Conclusion
As you may have noticed, we give all the casinos we mention on our site different rankings depending on how well they are doing in terms of security, game variety, bonus offers, customer support and much more. A number of times we mentioned that we gave Betfair a 9.0. This is not the highest ranking possible. The reason that we didn’t rank the operator higher is that there are a few issues with it.
One of the biggest issues is that the company increased the commission players pay when they get more than £250,000 in winnings. The commission was raised to 40% in 2011. This is a pretty concerning issue that has raised a few eyebrows among punters. It seems pretty unfair considering that when people win, the company does not lose any money at all. Plus, they earn a commission every time a bet wins. Yet, they have decided to up their commission for winnings over £250,000.
The second issue has to do with the fact that they charge their customers when making financial transactions rather than covering the charges themselves. The processing fee amounts to 1.5% of the money being transferred and is incurred to players instead of the operator itself. This is certainly a huge drawback. We think it should be Betfair that pays the charge.
Despite these two serious issues, we still think Betfair is a good and, most of all, safe option for every player out there. Different strokes for different folks, they say. So, who knows, it might be just what you are looking for.
